The different facets to study a BA In Hotel Management at SHMS

Swiss Hotel Management School was named the 3rd best school in the world in the 2022 QS Rankings as well as the 2nd best in Switzerland. A three-year degree in partnership with the University of Derby, with specializations in BA in Hotel Management, two internships and a multi-campus experience, the Bachelor program follows a three-pillar approach focusing on global trends, business strategy, and operational leadership. The first two years share the same modules, with the third year varying depending on your chosen pathway: Hospitality, Hospitality Events, or Design. Students on all pathways have the opportunity to share certain classes, work on group projects, and organize VIP banquets together. At the completion of a three-year curriculum a Bachelor’s degree accredited by the University of Derby, UK is awarded.

The Specializations are as follows :

A) Hospitality Management

  • AI and Digital Innovation: In a world of technology, digital marketing establishes itself as a vital part by providing coherence in the communication between the customers and the establishment.
  • MICE and Logistics: The planning and management of technical and logistical support services to ensure the seamless execution of an event. These services cover both tangible and intangible aspects, such as event swag, merchandise, venues, transport, registration platform etc.
  • Hospitality Economics: focuses on applying economic principles to analyze the hospitality industry. You will learn how to use rigorous economic theories and models to analyze the functioning of the hospitality industry and its current trends.
  • Ethics, Sustainability, and Business Culture The Ethical Duty of a Business organization with regard to Sustainability. In business, the three aspects of sustainability include social, economic and environmental. The role of companies in addressing all these three aspects depends on the management practice implemented in the organization.
  • Food and Beverage Development: You will learn how to look at the industry and consumer trends as well as a client’s target market to brainstorm new ideas for branding, products, menu items, and restaurant concepts. This skill will also come to work in practice after your BA in Hotel Management is over and you are out in the industry.
  • People and Intercultural Strategies: Aim to teach you methods that engage consumers to interact in a way that supports the notion that cultures can be linguistically, culturally or socially different from one’s own culture.

C) Design Management

  • Digital Design and Visual Technology: This will help you learn and strategise the look and feel of a product or brand as well as how it is communicated to a given audience.
  • Hospitality Design III: Hospitality design focuses on the interiors of commercial premises for service industries which include restaurants, bars, clubs, casinos, cafés, pop-up or temporary restaurants, spas, lounges and more.
  • Food and Beverage Outlet Design
  • AutoCAD: AutoCAD is a commercial computer-aided design and drafting software application. This will help the students understand better the technology as well as the efficiency that comes with it.
  • Innovation in Design and Technology
  • Retail Management of Luxury Brands: Luxury brand management will focus on creating unique and unforgettable experiences and delivering exceptional personal service.
